Woman dragged by vehicle, Jumpin Jack’s sock and more crime in Johnson City

Dragged by vehicle: A man dragged a woman with his car in the Tree Streets neighborhood in October, police said, resulting in his arrest Thursday. Clyde Wilson, 48, 420 W. Maple St., was charged with domestic aggravated assault. At about 7:50 p.m., officers, police went to Wilson’s address and spoke with the reported victim, who stated that she and Wilson were on their way to the grocery store when an argument started. She asked Wilson to let her out of the vehicle, and Wilson slowed down. As she got out, he drove off, dragging her an unknown distance. The victim suffered several injuries and was taken to Johnson City Medical Center. Police obtained a warrant for Wilson. On Thursday, the Washington County Detention Center notified Johnson City police that Wilson had been jailed in that facility, and police served him with the warrant. He was held under $20,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance that was set for Friday.

Jumpin Jack’s sock: A Johnson City man had a substance in his sock as he was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on Thursday, police said, resulting in an additional charge. Wayne Jumpin Jack Peek, 34, had been arrested on a criminal trespassing charge and two warrants from Washington County. Police said a small baggie containing a white crystalized substance was found, resulting in a charge of introduction of contraband into a penal facility. He was held under $5,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance that was set for Friday.

Stolen car and meth: Johnson City police said they found an Elizabethton woman in a stolen car Thursday, resulting in theft, drug and other charges. Lisa Goodridge, 44, 604 N. Pine St., was spotted in the vehicle about 2:30 p.m. When police questioned her, she refused to give officers her name and then provided a false name. Searching the vehicle, police found a bottle containing methamphetamine and several pills. Goodridge was charged with theft of property over $2,500, simple possession, possession of methamphetamine and criminal impersonation. She was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $2,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance that was set for Friday.

Fugitive arrested: A man wanted in Virginia was arrested Thursday in Johnson City. About 11:30 a.m., police went to Performance Medical, 401 E. Watauga Ave., about a man who would not leave the property. The found Mark Gage, 58, 123 W. Millard St., standing at the back of the property. A warrant check showed Gage was wanted in Scott County, Virginia, on a failure to appear charge resulting from a felony drug charge. Gage was charged with being a fugitive from justice and held in the Washington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing that was set for Friday.

Car wash ID theft: A report of a suspicious vehicle at a South Roan Street car wash led Johnson City police to arrest a man Wednesday. Police said John F. Bowman, 39, 5745 Kingsport Highway, used a Kingsport man’s identity to avoid being arrested for an outstanding violation of probation charge. An altered Tennessee driver’s license belonging to the victim was found in Bowman’s wallet. Bowman was charged with identity theft. He was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $5,000 bond and arraigned Thursday in Sessions Court.
