UPDATE: Elizabethton shooting was fatal, suspected shooter questioned

ELIZABETHTON — The Elizabethton Police Department reported that it is investigating an early Sunday morning shooting at 220 W. I St.

The Department said one man had been shot. He was found with life-threatening injuries. He was transported by the Carter County Rescue Squad to a local hospital. Police responded to the shooting around 3:30 a.m.

The police said the suspected shooter was found on the scene. Officers and investigators from the department are investigating the incident. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting the police department.

No charges had been placed.
