Daniel Boone’s road for a return trip to the Little League Softball World Series got more difficult.

The Gray team suffered a 5-4 extra-inning loss to North Carolina in the winners’ bracket final of the Southeast Regional on Sunday in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Boone will have to play again Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. against Florida or West Virginia, who play each other at 3:30 p.m. The winner of the 6:30 game earns a spot in Monday’s championship at 10 a.m. against North Carolina.

Kennedi Fisher led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single. With two outs and Fisher on third base, Kynlee Dextraze hit a solid single to left field for the game winner.

Down to its last out, Boone got a two-run triple from Kayleigh Musser to tie the game at 4-4 in the top of the sixth inning.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Dextraze was hit by a pitch. Lauren Vanderpool followed with a go-ahead triple. Campbell Schaen drove her in with a single.

Boone took a quick lead, putting up a two spot in the top of the first inning. Riley Croley led off with a single, and one out later Kyleigh Bacon cracked an inside-the-park homer to center field.

Vanderpool was hit by a pitch to lead off the fourth inning. She stole second and third and scored on Schaen’s groundout.

After a one-out error, Carmen Freeze ripped a triple to center field to tie the game at 2-2.
