Dobyns-Bennett’s standout running back Ian Hicks led the way for the Johnson City Press/Times News players of the Week for the games of Aug. 30-31.

Dobyns-Bennett, QB

Facing an 0-3 start to the season, the senior carried his teammates with 182 yards rushing, a 32-yard TD catch, and all three of the Indians’ touchdowns — including the game-winner with 1:06 left in a 24-21 win over rival Science Hill.


Cade Larkins

David Crockett, QB

Cutting loose through the air, the junior totaled 353 yards passing with five touchdown tosses, hitting on 17 of 24 attempts.

Easton Harrell

Daniel Boone, QB

A game-saving pass breakup near the goal line on the final play added to the senior’s 136 yards rushing with a touchdown, and a 41-yard pass completion to set up the eventual game-winning score.

Brett Strother

Unicoi County, WR

Breaking loose to help his team move to 3-0, the senior hauled in four passes for 219 yards — including touchdown catches of 39, 35 and 80 yards.

Nathan Lane

Johnson County, RB

In a game that turned into a second-half shootout, Lane totaled 222 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns.
