RAIN SMITH, Kingsport Times News • Oct 14, 2019 at 4:09 PM

KINGSPORT — Police are investigating an apparent Sunday evening shooting at a busy city intersection, though a potential victim and suspect have yet to be located.

According to records at the Kingsport Police Department, it occurred about 6:45 p.m. at the corner of North Eastman Road and East Center Street. Multiple people reported hearing gunfire, while one witness in Indian Highlands Park reported seeing a white male running away and clutching his stomach.

A motorist on Center Street added that she saw a man with a gun exit a lifted pickup, then fire two shots at a man who was near the fence at the park. After that, according to the witness, the gunman fired two shots at a car.

A third witness said that after the car was shot, its driver reversed to the adjacent USA Mart. Before fleeing the scene, it is believed the driver of the car may have picked up the shooting victim. Our partners at the Kingsport Times News have more.
