A Greeneville man whose street name is Snugg Nose was arrested last week for his alleged involvement in a shooting and robbery that happened here in July.

Quanardel Latez Wells Jr., 26, was charged Aug. 9 with especially aggravated robbery resulting from a series of events that began with a drug deal on July 19, police said in a news release.

Police found the victim, Joshua Walker, at the dead end of Traders Walk where a 911 caller had reported a man was yelling for help. They found the victim lying on the pavement with a gunshot wound in his leg. Emergency Medical Services took the victim to a local hospital.

Walker told police he and his family were on vacation and staying at the Econo Lodge on Mountcastle Drive on July 17, and that a black man approached him and asked if he smoked. Walker told the man he didn’t need anything, but the man — later identified as Wells — wrote a phone number and his name, Snugg Nose, on a piece of paper and left it with Walker.

Walker said he contacted Wells on later the same day about buying some marijuana. Walker said Wells, aka Snugg Nose, and a woman an another man picked him up in front of the motel in a silver SUV.

“He said they started to drive off and he asked them where they were going because he was not comfortable with it. He said that Snugg Nose pulled out a gun and stuck it in his face,” according to details in a court document.

Snugg Nose hit Walker in the face with the gun, then Walker pulled out his own gun but the other two were able to get it away from him. Walker told police he was shot in the leg with his own gun by Snugg Nose.

“He said they took his necklace, watch, wedding band, gun, cash, and then pushed him out of the vehicle,” Investigator Toma Sparks wrote in the court document.

Wells, 1638 Millers Chapel Road, Greeneville, was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $30,000 bond and arraigned Monday in Sessions Court. His next court appearance is Sept. 18.
