A Johnson City man hospitalized after a motorcycle crash Sunday died from his injuries on Monday, police said.

J.D. Nickels, 36, was riding a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on North Roan in Boones Creek when it collided with a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban turning left from Cambridgeshire Court. Cambridgeshire Court is across from the old Boones Creek Middle School building.

Nickels was taken to Johnson City Medical Center, where he initially was listed in critical condition. Police announced his death Tuesday in a news release.

The Suburban’s driver, 60-year-old Ivan Pickle, Johnson City, was not injured.

The Johnson City Police Department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team was continuing to investigate.
