Police arrested a John Sevier Center resident Tuesday after he charged at another man with a knife at the downtown apartment tower, police said in a news release.

Joel G. Jenkins, 43, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.

About 1:30 p.m., police were called to the center, 141 E Market St., where the victim reported that Jenkins charged at him with a knife and threatened to cut him. The victim was able to get away and call 911.

Jenkins was held at the Washington County Detention Center under $2,500 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Wednesday.
