Update: Accused Kingsport killers captured in Kentucky

UPDATE: Kingsport police reported just after 9 p.m. Tuesday that both men accused of double murder had been captured in Kentucky.

The Kingsport Police Department received notice around 7 p.m. from the Adair County Sheriff’s Office that Joseph Dale Clark II, AKA “JoJo,” 19, Bald Knob, Arkansas, and Alexander M. Hamilton, 22, Kingsport, had been taken into custody.

Both were held in that county’s jail awaiting extradition to Tennessee.

Clark and Hamilton were wanted on warrants resulting from Monday’s shooting deaths of Trevor L. Reed, 30, and Shyane I. Bishop, 27. The shooting took place at Stonecrest Apartments on Stonegate Road. Reed died shortly after arriving at a hospital. Bishop died Tuesday afternoon.

KINGSPORT — Monday's shooting at Stonecrest Apartments is now a homicide investigation, according to city police, as both victims have died.

The incident occurred at about 5:45 p.m. at the apartment complex on Stonegate Road. The male victim, Trevor L. Reed, 30, of Kingsport, died shortly after being transported to the hospital. The female victim, Shyane I. Bishop, 27, died Tuesday afternoon, according to Kingsport police.

Investigation by Kingsport Police Department detectives reportedly tabbed two man, who were still at large and considered armed and dangerous. They were identified as Joseph Dale Clark II, AKA “JoJo,” 19, of Bald Knob, Arkansas, and Alexander M. Hamilton, 22, of Kingsport. Warrants had been obtained charging each with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

"The exact motive remains part of an ongoing investigation and will not be released; however, this incident is not believed to have been a random act," read a KPD press release. "All of the individuals involved are believed to have been acquainted prior to the incident."

A 27-year-old woman was also shot, according to Kingsport police, and she was taken by Sullivan County EMS for treatment. As of mid-Tuesday morning, she remained hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and police were not releasing her name.
