Crime Roundup: attempted robbery at Italian Pizza Pub, 4th DUI, drug raid

The following is a roundup of felony arrests reported recently by police:

Attempted robbery at Italian Pizza Pub

Johnson City police arrested a man Wednesday on allegations that he tried to rob the Italian Pizza Pub on West Walnut Street. Police said Steven Soucy, 30, came into the restaurant and asked for a cup of water before telling the employee he wanted what was in the cash register. He threatened to assault the employee and take the tip jar. Soucy left on foot after the employee refused to give him money from the register or tip jar before police found him at the Salvation Army. He was charged with attempted robbery and held in the Washington County Detention Center on $25,000 bond. He was set to appear in Sessions Court Friday.

Man charged with 4th DUI and identity theft after traffic stop 

Johnson City police arrested a man Thursday and charged him with his fourth offense of driving under the influence, identity theft and driving on a revoked license following a traffic stop. Police said Harold Chrisman, 43, was “believed to be impaired.” Police later discovered his license status was revoked, and Chrisman provided a relative’s identification to officers when asked to identify himself. Chrisman was held in the Washington County Detention Center without bond before a hearing set for Monday.

2 charged in Bristol, Virginia, drug raid

BRISTOL, Va. — Meth, heroin, cash and more than 20 weapons were seized Wednesday in a police raid on 2nd Street, resulting in two arrests. Executing a search warrant at 111 2nd St., police and the Drug Enforcement Agency found about 1 ounce of methamphetamine and 1/2 ounce of heroin, along with $4260 in cash and 22 firearms. Police estimated the to drugs have an approximate street value of $4,200. Earl H. McCoy, 43, of the residence, was charged with possession of 28 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule I or II drug with the intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm while in possession of a schedule I or II drug with the intent to distribute. He was held without bond. Lauren K. Smith, 19, of Bristol, Tennessee, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Abingdon, Virginia. She was released on an unsecured bond. The following units/agencies were involved: BVPD Vice/Narcotics Unit, BVPD SWAT Team, DEA, Virginia State Police Tactical Team, and the Bristol Virginia Fire Department.
