Man charged with burglary of a motor vehicle
When Johnson City police responded to a report about a man stealing items from vehicles near Pardee Street and Broadway Street on Dec. 29, police arrested and charged Eric W. Gunn, 25, 144 Carrville Ave., with two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle and criminal trespassing.
Gunn was found after police said witnesses gave a detailed description of him and a video was found showing the incident, but Gunn fled before police arrived. He was later found at the Dollar General at 417 S. Broadway St. During the investigation, officers discovered Gunn was on the Johnson City Housing Authority Trespass list.
Gunn was held in the Washington County Detention Center on $20,000 bond and set to appear in Sessions Court Wednesday.
Wanted couple sets camper on fire before arrest
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people Tuesday night following reports that they were in the jurisdiction last week.
Willie Davis Jr., 41, and Jennifer Lois Jenkins, 42, were both wanted on warrants charged them with aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary, aggravated burglary and false reports. When they were eventually found in a camper in Blountville Tuesday, authorities said a perimeter was established around the camper and officers called the couple out of the camper.
The two did not immediately exit the camper, and officers began to smell smoke. Soon thereafter, the couple came out of the camper, which was on fire. The Sullivan County and Avoca Volunteer Fire Departments responded to extinguish the fire.
Deputies said they did not know why the couple set the camper on fire, and further charges related to the pursuit and incident are pending, according to a Tuesday press release.
