A Johnson County man has been arrested for growing marijuana in Mountain City, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a press release.

According to the release, TBI’s Drug Investigation Division special agents worked with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Governor’s Task Force on Marijuana Eradication on an investigation into a marijuana growing operation in the 100 block of J. Johnson Road. The three municipalities began the investigation in June into the operation, and determined that Frank Chiono, 56, was responsible for growing the marijuana, the release said.

The Johnson County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Chiono with one count of manufacture of schedule VI. He was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Johnson County Jail after he turned himself in.
