Police were seeking the public’s help Monday in investigating the death of a person whose body was found Saturday in a south Johnson City low-income housing apartment complex.

About 6:30 p.m., police went to Lakewood Village off Swadley Road, where residents reported an “unknown person” was found deceased in their apartment. Investigators would not say how they thought the person died, but confirmed there was no trauma to the body.

Police were withholding the deceased’s identity until a next of kin could be found and notified. The body was sent to East Tennessee State University’s William L. Jenkins Forensic Center, where an autopsy was to be completed to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Johnson City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division asked that anyone having information call (423) 434-6166 or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 434-6158. To send a confidential tip, text 423JCPD and the tip to 847411 (TIP411) or send a tip to www.citizenobserver.com.
