Man charged with downtown Johnson City assault, victim critical

A Johnson City man was charged with aggravated assault Saturday after allegedly punching a man found lying in the road in front of Tipton Street Pub. 

According to a news release, Johnson City Police arrested 22 year old Lloyd Alexander Yonce after officers located a white male lying in front of Tipton Street Pub that witnesses say had been involved in a physical altercation and was knocked out by a punch to the face. Upon being transported to the hospital, the man was found to have suffered significant brain trauma and is listed in critical condition.

Police say that the investigation revealed Yonce had allegedly been involved in this altercation and reportedly admitted that he struck the victim one time, knocking him to the ground. 

Yonce is being held under $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
