Knoxville woman tries to cash fake check, police say

A Knoxville woman was arrested Saturday after an investigation into a report of a fake check passed at a local bank branch, city police said in a news release.

Stacy Overley, 45, 418 N. Broadway St., was charged with criminal simulation after police said she tried to cash a fake check at the Bank of Tennessee at 402 Roy Martin Road.

Overley was charged with criminal simulation and held in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond. She was set to appear in Sessions Court on Thursday.
