Winners for the Bucs
Lamisha Simmons won the 60-meter hurdles for the Bucs with a time of 8.71 seconds to start off her campaign with a bang.
Both the men’s and the women’s distance medley relay teams avenged lackluster performances from last year with wins in Saturday’s meet. The men ran a 10:16.02 in the 4,000 event, while the women covered the distance in 12:19.05.
Other top 10 showings for ETSU
Senior Simeon Roberts had the most exciting finish of the day in the men’s mile run, just barely getting edged at the line by Queens’ Elijah Inuwa — running a 4:13.47 and losing by less than half of a second.
Three Bucs finished in the top 10 in the 3,000, with freshman Ben Varghese leading the way in fifth at 8:36.28. Adam Bradtmueller finished sixth and Nick Horne was ninth.
Jordan Scott placed sixth in the high jump with a clearance of 6 feet, 4 inches.
Ben Johnson followed up his win last night in the weight throw with an eighth-place finish in the shot put (47-9).
Kyra Atkins had a fifth-place finish in the long jump and a runner-up finish in the 60 dash.
Senior Macy Carrier got fourth place in the women’s 3,000 run with a time of 10:30.73.
Kolbie Williamson got ninth in the women’s mile, crossing the line in 5:23.38.
Carl Oberfeitinger and Malik Gemechu finished ninth and 10th, respectively, in the men’s mile, running 4:24.08 and 4:27.27.
Kiana Davis fought for fourth place in the women’s 200 with a time of 25.11.
ETSU wrapped up the day with a fifth-place finish in the women’s 4x400 meter relay.
Buffs stand out
Liz Maller had a great performance for Milligan by tossing 42-1.25 in the women’s shot put to earn runner-up honors.
Mark Stair cleared 6-6 to nab fourth place in the men’s high jump.
JJ Robinson had a solid run in the women’s 3,000, finishing in eighth place at 10:42.47.
Other performances of note
Former Milligan College standout Hannah Segrave dominated the women’s mile run, winning by more than 15 seconds in 4:52.61.
Katrina Seymour performed well in her old stomping grounds, as the former Buc took home the win in the 200 by posting a 24.47.
