Milligan’s Hannah Segrave has been named the national athlete of the year for women's indoor track, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The award was voted on by USTFCCCA member coaches based on performances both at this past weekend's NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships as well as performances throughout the entire regular season.

Segrave ended her season on a high note. The senior from Middlesbrough, United Kingdom, won the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championship in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.49, nearly seven seconds faster than her nearest competitor. Her swan song season was outstanding, as she ranked No. 1 nationally in the 800 with her time of 2:03.80, a mark that left her 50th in the world and ninth among all collegians.

Segrave was No. 1 among all U-23 athletes in the UK. She also ranked No. 1 nationally at 600 meters (1:31.47) and No. 2 in the mile (4:52.89) and 3000 (9:51.73).

Segrave's outstanding career now includes three individual national titles, three national runners-up and six All-American performances.

With a successful indoor season under the belt, Segrave and the Buffs will pick up outdoor season beginning with a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the 49er Classic scheduled for March 16-18.
