Pets of the Week

The weather is changing, for those of you who haven’t noticed, and while the cooling outside is great for dogs who have grown tired of the heat, it might also mean that the cool air is leaving them colder than necessary as well. If you have some extra blankets, you might want to visit your local shelter and donate them to the animals in need —or you could simply adopt a wonderful pet and take him/her home to your warm and loving home. Problem solved!

There are plenty of good dogs  and cats looking for a home at your local shelters, and here are a handful at the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter —this week’s Pets of the Week:

• Hobo is a wonderful, older dog who has a lifetime of love to bring to your home, and a need for some care and attention in his final years. He is a handsome, neutered, black and brown, male Terrier mix who is more active than you would expect for a dog of fourteen years, and very happy to share some love with visitors and prospective families. Come see for yourself.

• Dara is a four-month-old, female, domestic short hair who loves to play, and to be touched and held. A sweet girl with a beautiful black and white coat, she would be a great addition to any home.

• Crimson is a beautiful, sweet, and very active one-and-a-half-year-old, spayed, female Boxer mix who wants to live in a good home filled with love and friendship. She is having a hard time adjusting to life at the shelter, as you can see from her photo taken atop her dog house, and she would love to make a new home with you and yours - why don’t you pay her a visit and make that happen?

There are a handful of Scottish Fold kittens available at the shelter, in high demand because of the cute, folded ears that are prominent throughout the breed. There are two small, gray, female, nine-week-old kittens who have the desired ear-folded trait, and they are available for adoption at the shelter. Pay them a visit and fall in love!

You can visit the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter at 135 Sycamore Shoals Road, Elizabethton, or call them at 423-547-6359.
