Pets of the Week

Summer is in full swing, and so are the animals, if you get my drift. So, please, spay and neuter, and try to keep your pets inside or within boundaries, because the numbers of cats appearing at your local shelters is increasing exponentially.

Also, and more importantly, make sure your pets have plenty of water at their disposal. There is nothing worse than a dog or cat in need of hydration to stay healthy (or alive) —that should be the least of their worries, so help ‘em out.

This week’s Pets of the Week:

• Rocket is a handsome, tri-color, neutered male in search of a wonderful family to take him home. He is a happy, active Spaniel mix with a healthy distrust of new people, so you need to go slow with him - but once he knows you, he is quick to become your friend, and would be a great friend to have. Pay him a visit and see for yourself!

• Cats Galore! There are so many cats and kittens at your local shelters right now, and Elizabethton is no different. The folks there really need you to come down and help, whether that means volunteering, donating, or adopting —there is a really good chance that you could find a cat here that would be perfect for your life and home!

• Sheela loves people. She loves being petted, held, and paid attention to. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys that sort of thing, maybe this seven-month-old, spayed, female, orange, tabby, domestic short hair is the one for you. Come on down and see for yourself!

• Sonny is an older, male Jack Russell mix, and he could really use your help and home. A handsome, ten-year-old, white and brown boy with a sweet disposition, he loves getting attention (as they all do), and loves giving love back. I bet, if you spent some time with him, he’d show you some of that love. Come on down.

You can visit the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter at 135 Sycamore Shoals Road, Elizabethton, or call them at 423-547-6359.
