Pets of the Week

Jared Bentley • May 30, 2019 at 5:06 PM

These are the Pets of the Week, brought to you this week by the fine folks and animals at the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter.

Summer is here, and that means dozens and dozens of cats coming into your local shelters - it is mating season, it seems, and the kittens abound. It’s not just felines, either - there are always plenty of animals in need, so pay them a visit and do your part to help.

• Great Tree is a handsome boy, shy, and ready for a family. A ten-week-old, white and tan, Spaniel/Lab mix, he would make an amazing addition to any household. He would make any dog enthusiast proud, so just imagine what he could do for a wonderful family looking to love a rescue! Visit and bring him home!

• Ariel is not enjoying her time at the shelter (no dog really ever does), and she deserves to be a happy dog. Sweet, obedient, and easy to fall in love with, she is scared, sad, and alone. A two-year-old, spayed, female Pit mix, her chocolate coat and wide smile would go very well with everything at your house. Take her home and see.

• Maxie is a one-year-old, spayed, female domestic short hair who has been at the shelter far too long. A beautiful, tan and white Calico, she was brought in over eight months ago (September, 2018), and she needs to know there is more to life than a cage and occasional visitors. Please let her know that. Please show her you care, and take her home with you today.

• Kittens Galore! If you have space in your heart and home, please visit your local shelters and take a kitten home (if you are a responsible adult). There are so many cats and kittens coming into the shelters right now, and they are running out of room, time, and the ability to offer the care they deserve. If you can’t take one home (or a lot of them home), please visit and volunteer your time, offer some food, or make a donation. They could use all the help you can muster.

You can visit the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter at 135 Sycamore Shoals Road, Elizabethton, or call them at 423-547-6359.
