Pets of the Week

If you have any room in your heart or home this spring, and you’d like to welcome a new family member, I know a few wonderful animals that might just fit the bill.

The Carter County shelter is always full, and they always have great new friends to get to know. Whether you are looking for a dog (they have several in dire need of being placed in a home) or a cat (they are well over capacity), they can match you up with the perfect pet.

This week’s Pets of the Week:

• Cooper is a two-year-old, male, white and tan Pitbull mix who loves people and hopes to find a home soon. He is a big boy with a sweet nature, and he is scared at the shelter. A very loving dog, he’d make a wonderful companion for anyone, and a great friend to a young, active person who wants a new friend. Come see for yourself!

• Rod is a laid back cat with a great purr and a heck of a personality. A big, lovable, orange Tabby, this 12-week-old, male, domestic short hair is ready to go home with you - and you’d be lucky to have him at your home. He’s happy and fun, so give him a chance to add that to your home.

• Kanga is a 1-year-old female who really likes to be around people. She has a beautiful brown and black, brindle coat with perfect stripes and color, and this Boxer/Pit mix has an extremely sweet and playful personality that is infectious and contagious to all who meet her. She would be a great dog for an active family, especially a family looking for a dog to grow with kids.

• Nicole is a sleek, 10-week-old, female domestic short hair with a curious streak and a healthy hesitation from greeting people at her cage. A beautiful gray coat with small white spots is complimented by hypnotic, dark, green eyes, and she warms up quickly once you give her time to get to know you. Pay her a visit and see for yourselves, folks - she could be the one for you!

You can visit the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter at 135 Sycamore Shoals Road, Elizabethton, or call them at 423-547-6359.
