Pets of the Week

For what has proven to be a horribly wet winter, the afternoon proved the opposite. My trip to the shelter this week was warm, sunny, and enjoyable - but also sobering, because there are hundreds of animals in need at the Washington County Shelter, just as there are throughout our region.

If you get a chance, stop by and visit, and maybe consider taking one of these wonderful animals home with you.

This week’s Pets of the Week:

• Ginger is a beautiful, adult female Tabby with plenty of personality. She has been spayed, and her orange and white coat is bright and healthy. She would make a wonderful companion for anyone, and wants you to visit and hold her, brush her, or simply pet her - she’s not fussy.

This big fella here is named Henry, and he loves people. He is a neutered, five-year-old male Tabby with a curious nature and a desire to be touched. He is a black and white, domestic short hair, and I think he’d make a wonderful friend for a young person who liked to play, or an older person who simply needed some company - I don’t think Henry would complain either way.

• Guy is a little, wiry fella with a big heart. He is an active, neutered male Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix, and he loves to be around other dogs and cats, older people, and especially kids. He is a cuddler and a runner, and loves nothing more than playing with new family, visiting new friends, or spending time with old ones.

• Red is a handsome, lovable Pitbull mix who wants to have fun with you (so take him home and see for yourself), spend some time with you, and be a part of your family. He is very active, but enjoys down time as well, especially if it includes cuddling or laying back with someone he loves.
