Pets of the Week

Jared Bentley • Dec 20, 2018 at 4:20 PM

There are cages upon cages upon cages of cats at the Carter County Animal Shelter in Elizabethton right now; literally hundreds of cats and kittens in need of a home. Cute, smart, cuddly cats who just want a warm place to live for the winter, full of love and attention and people who care.

There are plenty of dogs as well — more than the shelter can currently hold — but, for every dog on hand, there are at least two or three cats and kittens. So, if you like the idea of spending time with a furry new friend, pay them a visit and see about taking one home. It will be well worth your time.

This week’s Pets of the Week:

• Sphinx is a snow white, eight-month-old, female domestic short hair who loves attention. She is talkative and fun, and loves to be touched. Curious and sweet, she also enjoys playing and running, so please give her a place to do both - come visit and take her home for Christmas!

• Griswold is a handsome, attentive, and very intelligent young hound. A beautiful black and tan coat allows this one-year-old male to stand out, and his sweet disposition sets him apart even further. He would make a wonderful addition to any home or family this holiday season!

• Bubs is an eight-year-old Pitbull mix who just might be the sweetest dog in the Carter County Shelter. He is white, with sweet, gray eyes that melt you and cry for attention. He is playful and loves to be rubbed and spoken to, and will happily reciprocate the conversation. He needs a home, and it sure would be nice to know he had one. Pay him a visit and take him with you when you leave!

• Buzz is another handsome Pitbull, with a beautiful brindle and white coat and a huge smile when you meet him. He is two years old, patient, and quiet —but when you let him know you’d like to play, he’s ready to go. He was very well behaved during my visit, and very receptive to attention and commands, so take him home and teach him some of your own. He’ll make someone a wonderful companion for years to come!
