Pets of the Week

I brought my daughter along as I visited the shelter this week, and she was more than happy to go - but there was also sadness as she realized that many of the dogs she saw were still here form her last visit, and not finding homes.

The folks at the WCJC shelter do a great job looking after the animals, keeping the facility clean, and working to find stable, happy homes for each pet, but that doesn’t mean success is assured. There are so many deserving dogs who need a family, and so many sweet cats who need a home, and all it takes is for you to decide to pay them a visit.

Come down, say hi, spend some time - and go home with a new family member.

This week’s Pets of the Week:

• Thing One is a jet black, neutered, adult male domestic short hair who loves to be around people and enjoys being held, but isn’t pushy about it. He seems like the perfect cat to have around when you want him, and when you just want your space - come visit Thing One!

• Sophie is a six-month-old brown rabbit. A calm and docile female, she seems to - unlike many of the rabbits who have come through the shelter - really enjoy human contact. Take Sophie and her long ears home with you this week.

• Venom is a magnificent handful. A ten-week-old male, orange Tabby, he is everything a kitten should be - brave, active, fun, and cute as a button. This neutered domestic short hair is as sweets as they come as well, despite his unfortunate name.

• Lady was visiting with a very nice family when I arrived to take her picture, and I hope she finds a home with them, or someone like them, because she deserves it. A nine-month-old, tri-color Terrier mix, she is very family-friendly, and just getting comfortable around people. A bit shy, and a lot sweet, she needs a good home to call her own - let it be yours!
