WCJC Animal Shelter, March 9 - VIDEO

It was a cold, windy day for my weekly visit to the shelter, which pretty much guaranteed a dearth of volunteers and visitors walking dogs outside.

There weren’t very many people on hand during my time there, but, there were a few folks who were making moves to adopt, and others who were signing up to get the ball rolling on adoptions and volunteering, so that helped turn a dreary afternoon into a hopeful one. Sometimes that’s all it takes - a few people looking to help, and looking to open their home to an animal in need of love and family.

It feels good to give an animal a new lease on life. It feels even better to give an animal a new family, and a life full of love and care. If you want to be the one who gives hope to an animal in need, you have to take the first step and visit the Washington County shelter, or any other regional shelter. You have to be willing to dedicate your time and effort to improving the life of another. You’ll be glad you did.

The facility in Johnson City is first-rate, the staff is helpful and hard-working, and the prospective pets are the finest you’ll ever find. If you really feel like you’re ready to add a member to your home and family, pay them a visit and see for yourself.

You can visit the Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter at 3411 N. Roan St., or visit online at wcjcanimalshelter.org. You can also call at 423-926-8769.
