These are the days that make the trips to the shelter rewarding, and I hope to experience plenty more like it in the future. So help me with that goal — visit the shelter and spend time with the staff and the animals, and try to make room in your heart and your home for a new member of your family. You’ll be glad you did.
If you’d like some suggestions, I met four very nice new friends to highlight as this week’s Pets of the Week:
• Anna Mae is a two-year-old spayed female domestic short hair who really likes to stay clean and presentable. She is a gray and white tabby with a wonderful attitude and plenty of love to give.
• Carter is a one-and-a-half-year-old domestic short hair, a spayed female Torbie who is just as sweet as she is curious. She was ready to leap when we opened her cage, but stayed put to find out what was happening and bask in the attention.
• Phoebe is a shy six-year-old spayed female Heeler mix who longs to be outside running in the sun. She has a beautiful coat and eyes, and would be a perfect farm dog for an active soul.
• Fennel is an adult neutered male Sharpei mix with a few developmental issues. He misses a step here and there, but is more than willing to do anything he can to keep up with you and your lifestyle. He is healthy and fun and ready to go, so someone take him home!
So, now that you’ve seen a few more of the faces at the shelter, pay them a visit and see how many more are there to connect with. There are plenty in need.
