Ralph was born to the late Richmond Pierson Shelton and Evelyn Grey (Bailey) Shelton.
Ralph proudly served his Country in The United States Navy during WWII. He retired from Accurate Machine as a purchasing agent after many years of dedicated service. Ralph was a member and Deacon of Otterbein United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years.
Ralph loved his family very much. He also loved to golf, sing, ride his bicycle, he especially loved the mountains and to travel. In his later years he came to know and love his friends and staff at Dominion Assisted Living.
In addition to his parents Ralph was preceded in death by loving wife of over 58 years; Evelyn (Frost) Shelton, sister; Doris Wilson, and brother; Pierson Shelton Jr.
Ralph is survived by his daughters; Karen Garrett (Bob) and Sheree DiDonato (Pete), grandchildren; Brandon Garrett, Lauren Lawson (Greg), Army Captain Joseph Shelton DiDonato and David Shelton DiDonato, sister; Aline Mullins, sister-in-law; Velma Lee Kadel, along with several nieces and nephews.
The Shelton family will gather to greet friends and share memories on Thursday January 16, 2020 at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City from 1:00PM-3:00PM. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00PM with Rev. Lon Tobin officiating. Graveside Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers the Shelton family has requested that memorials be made in Walter’s memory to Manna House. 116 W. Walnut St. Johnson City, TN 37604. All donations made in Ralph’s memory to Manna House are tax deductible.
