She was born in Michigantown, IN on April 18, 1926 to William Decatur and Cora Edith (Perrel) Fox. School years were spent in Michigantown and Kerrville, TX where her family went to help remediate her father’s acute asthma. Following high school, she entered Butler University, IN earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education; later she would earn a Teacher’s Certificate from Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA). She taught for several years in Fulton County high schools as an English teacher. She also was an adjunct teacher at Atlanta Christian College in Christian Education. Two short instructional books she wrote in that field were published by Standard Publishing Company, Cincinnati, OH.
Working alongside her husband, Professor Denver H. Sizemore of Atlanta Christian College, she helped prepare three volumes of Christian Doctrine, which have been translated into over 24 languages and used around in the world. In addition, she accompanied him on teaching tours to Jamaica, Vienna, Austria, Zimbabwe, Mexico, Indonesia, often teaching classes on her own dedicated subjects.
She and Professor Sizemore led several teaching trips to Israel, Egypt, and Greece.
She was a devoted Christian, wife and mother. She was a gracious hostess to missionaries, ACC college students and friends and homemaker to her family and their friends. Life lessons were often shared with the neighborhood friends who frequented the home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband of 63 years, Denver H. Sizemore. Mrs. Sizemore is survived by four children: Dr. David M. Sizemore; Lynnell Sizemore Goacher (William R.); Joyce Elaine Lawson (Thomas); Gayle Sizemore Gemeinhart (Kenneth); seven grandchildren: Nathan Gemeinhart (Jessica); Shelley L. Lawson; Anna G. Troiani (Paul); Jeremy T. Lawson (Cara); Julie L. Jackson (Pete); Scott Lawson (Devon); and Tyler Lawson (fiancée Jenna). Twelve great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the Cornerstone Village Chapel, Johnson City with a graveside service at the Emmanuel Cemetery, Hillsboro, WV.
