She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was born in Horse Creek and lived most of her life in Clear Springs Community with her husband, Bill, of 57 years. She was a member of Clear Springs Church for many years where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
She enjoyed working at Magnavox for 54 years. She always enjoyed sharing many stories of friends that she worked with. One of her most special friends at work was Mary Jo Davis. They rode together to work at 5am in rain, sleet or snow that sometimes was several inches deep. She was a very hard working woman. Charlotte always made sure that everyone was taken care of. She put others before her own needs.
She was a wonderful Mother. Many fun times were had with Mom. Being the wife of a dairy farmer meant staying close to home and on occasion running from the garden being chased by a cow for her corn she was carrying. When she did go on vacation and leave the farm, she loved to explore the beach with her daughters. She enjoyed her trip to Virginia and riding a ferry across the James River.
She was a wonderful grandmother. Every Sunday she would come over and play chase with her oldest Grandson Jacob. She would always make sure that he would catch her. She would rock her youngest Grandson Derrick to sleep always making sure he was covered up and asleep before she would leave his room. Her time spent with her grandsons were both precious to her and to us.
She enjoyed spending time with her sister. She always laughed so much when they were together. Mom was the big sister and always trying to make sure that her siblings were taken care of.
Her memories over the last several years were taken due to illness but before that she was full of life and one who never gave up. Many would say her eyes were as blue as the sea and her heart as deep as the water that ran thru the sea. She attended Clear Springs UM Church as long as her health permitted.
She was cared for at her residence by many wonderful caregivers in her last years. The family extends a special thanks to Sara Chalfant, Patsy Moulton deceased, Phyllis Mitchell, Barbie Jones, and Kayla Lowe. Recently, Mom moved to Hermitage Nursing Home and had wonderful care by many very sweet caregivers and physicians at Hermitage and Caris Hospice.Their care and compassion greatly comforted her in her time of need.
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
