Beverly was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother (Nana) and friend who was born in Texas and grew up in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in Education. Her passion for education and teaching took her to Denver, CO where she met her husband, Edward Henley. Ed brought her home with him where she fell in love with the mountains and the people of East Tennessee. They were married 46 years. Beverly taught school in the Johnson City School System for 40+ years working in both Keystone and Mountain View Elementary schools as a 1st grade teacher. She taught approximately 800-1200+ children to read and write over the years.
She cherished spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed travelling (and eating at Cracker Barrel) with her husband Ed and camping with her grandchildren. Beverly loved Jesus, animals, picnics, nature, having morning coffee on her carport, movies, and reading books. Beverly was an active member of Central Baptist Church of Johnson City, TN.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ed Henley, her son, Mark Henley and his wife Katie, her daughter Sherri Henley Baker and her husband Ben; grandchildren Jack (10), and Maggie(8) Baker.
A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 6pm, at Central Baptist Church, 300 North Roan Street, Johnson City, TN. The family will receive friends at the church from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a cause near to Beverly’s heart in her memory. Beverly regularly gave to Central Baptist Church, Samaritans Purse and the Johnson City Animal Shelter.
