The Crumley House is a nonprofit organization that serves to support those recovering from acute traumatic brain injury. The house was founded 27 years ago by June Barrett, a mother of a child with TBI, according to the organization’s website. She immersed herself in the rehabilitation process, of which she new nothing.
Barrett soon realized “there was no place to support the transition between acute rehabilitation, community reentry, and independent living skills,” according to the Crumley House website. From this idea grew what is now The Crumley House.
The goal and mission of the house is to “take care of individuals that have experienced a TBI and to improve their quality of life,” says Donna Noland, chairwoman of the Board of Directors for the house.
