And, once again this year, there will be two dances. The annual dance will be held on Friday, Feb. 8, from 6-8 p.m. The Sensory Friendly Themed Valentine’s Dance will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m.
The theme for both dances is “Dancing through the Decades” and will feature popular songs from each decade. All dancers are encouraged to wear the styles of their favorite decade, but are not required to dress up.
The sensitive-friendly themed Valentine’s Day Dance will be the second for the Parks and Rec Department. The event is put on with the help of Kid’s Like Us Community Learning Center and Curlee Communications Consultants Speech Therapy. This is a free community event. The dance is open to special needs children (18 and younger) and their families. A live DJ will provide music at a softer volume, overhead lights will remain on, and community resources will be on hand for families of special needs children.
There will also be a live DJ for the Feb. 8 dance, spinning the best hits from the decades of the past. The dancers will enjoy finger foods and and other light refreshments and dance the night away on this free event.
