MPCC presenter to offer tips to save money on winter power bill: Patrick Phipps with BrightRidge, a local public utility, will be at Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St., from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6. Phipps will speak to attendees about ways to save money on their winter power bills. He will also offer tips and answer questions related to winter emergencies. MPCC offers one-day-only Daddy-Daughter Dance flash sale: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St., will sell tickets for the 2019 Daddy-Daughter Dance at a discounted price on Friday, Dec. 7. Tickets may be purchased in person at MPCC from 12:30-8 p.m. and at myjcparks.org from midnight to 11:59 p.m. Discounted, one-day-only tickets are $15 for two tickets and $5 for each additional ticket. On Jan. 7, tickets will go on sale at the regular price of $10 per ticket. The Daddy-Daughter Dance is Feb. 9 from 6-8 p.m. Fathers, grandfathers and guardians are invited to dress up and dance the night away with their daughters. Gun permit school: On December 15th Rocky Top Gun Permit School will offer a gun permit class on Dec. 15 at 135 Keenburg Rd. in Elizabethton starting at 8:30 a.m. Ken Potter, a veteran law enforcement officer, is the instructor for the class. Cost of the class is $55. You will need to bring your weapon and 50 rounds of ammo. Loaner guns will be available for those who have yet to purchase one.
