Bill and the Belles, a Johnson City-based string band, released their third annual holiday music video, “Mistletoe Minnie,” an original song written by Kris Truelsen.

While last year’s video, “Santa’s Hula Holiday,” took viewers on an island getaway, this year’s video favors some quintessential and rather unexpected Johnson City locations.

2017 has been a big year for Bill and the Belles. In addition to playing a number of festivals (including Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Old Tone Roots Music Festival, Brooklyn Folk Festival, and Joe Val), taking the monthly radio show “Farm and Fun Time” on the road and participating in a cultural exchange tour in Michoacán, Mexico, the band was nominated for four 2017 International Bluegrass Music Association Awards: Bill and the Belles was nominated in the band category of the Momentum Awards; the monthly show “Farm and Fun Time” was nominated in the Event category; Kris Truelsen for Industry Involvement and Kris Truelsen for a “Special Award” for Broadcaster.

In spring 2018 the band will be releasing an album in conjunction with Jalopy Records, featuring their signature three-part, highly-arranged harmonies, plus playful and high-spirited songs presented with the energy of early country radio.

Bill and the Belles plays alongside America’s top country and roots music artists as the house band for the historic radio program “Farm and Fun Time” presented by Radio Bristol. Lifelong musicians Kris Truelsen, Grace Van’t Hof, Kalia Yeagle and Karl Zerfas bring to the stage an uplifting show unlike any other, full of humor, high spirits, and all-around revelry.

It’s clear this group shares a rare musical connection and deep love for the music, and their excitement is contagious.
