Bluegrass, opera, Celtic culture and more ways to enjoy life in the Tri-Cities area.

1. Appalachian Renaissance Faire. Inaugural Appalachian Renaissance Faire, East Tennessee Distillery grounds, 220 Piney Flats Road, Piney Flats: Celebration of Celtic culture and heritage; actors and role players; jousting; music; food, retail and beverage vendors and more; Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; no pets, service animals only. 2. ETSU Bluegrass bands at Capitol Theatre. Six of ETSU’s Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music bands will play 20-30 minute sets tonight from 7-10 at the Capitol Theatre, 104 S. 3. Opera at the cinema. The Metropolitan Opera of New York will present Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte,” or “The Magic Flute,” live performance broadcast Saturday at 12:55 p.m. at Cinemark Tinseltown Theatres USA, 3004 Linden Drive, Bristol, Va. $22.05-$16.80. 4. "House of Martyrs” at LampLight. Mortality Room 2017’s “House of Martyrs,” runs today and Saturday, 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., Sunday 6:30 p.m., and Oct. 30-31 at 6:30 p.m. at LampLight Theatre, 140 Broad St., Kingsport. $8; under age 13 must have parental permission, or be accompanied by guardian or parent. 5. 6. Mozart at Milligan with the JCSO. The Johnson City Symphony Orchestra will perform Saturday at 7:30 p.m., featuring Mozart’s “Concert for Three Pianos” and selections from Wagner, at Seeger Memorial Chapel on Milligan College campus.
