After months of planning, BCM and the track announced on Friday that they’re teaming up to offer fans 10 days of “Bristol, Baby!” with their “Rhythm and Racing Super Ticket.”
The $150 pass gives fans three days of music, three days of racing and three days of special events across the Tri-Cities.
“We knew immediately as soon as Bristol Motor Speedway called to give us a heads up that it was happening, our first initial reaction was excitement and ‘it’s about time that Bristol’s in the playoffs,’ and what better way to kick off race week than with a music festival?” said Kim Davis, director of marketing for BCM.
Davis also said that she “doesn’t know of any other racetrack that does that,” and that it’s a perfect pairing.
“We knew from March that we wanted to do something, and we’ve been working toward that since then,” she said.
In March, NASCAR announced a host of schedule changes for the 2020 racing season, including the move of Bristol's second race date to become a cutoff race for the first round of the playoffs.
“We’re excited,” Davis said. “To bring together two of the largest events in the Southeast, and to be able to bring them to Bristol — we’re really excited about that.”
The nearly two-week event is also expected to help tourism in the area, with Davis anticipating it being a “win-win for both events.”
“I think it’s going to be great (for tourism),” she said. “I think this is going to be a good push for our entire region.”
In a press release, BMS general manager Jerry Caldwell called it a “perfect” pairing for “music and racing enthusiasts alike.”
“No other NASCAR race kicks off their event experience a whole week early with a mega music festival and nightly entertainment leading into some of the most competitive racing on the circuit,” he continued. “This is an amazing experience in a beautiful region that we think fans of racing and music will love.”
Rhythm and Roots 2020 will be held Sept. 11-13, while events at BMS will be held Sept. 17-19. Other events are scheduled around the Tri-Cities Sept. 14 through 16, with Davis saying more details will be released closer to the dates.
