ELIZABETHTON — Tired of spending so much of your hard-earned money on tobacco products? Here’s a way to start quitting and you can double the money you spent on your last pack of cigarettes.

Grow Carter County is sponsoring a Tobacco Take Back at the Downtown Elizabethton Farmers Market from 5-8 p.m. Residents can bring any tobacco product of $5 value and trade it in for a gift certificate to Food City worth $10, plus a healthy snack.

“Giving up tobacco is a struggle,” said Grow Carter County Chairman Josh McKinney. “For those trying to quit, providing an incentive, no matter how small, could be the boost that they need.”

McKinney said ongoing support and resources will offered at the event as well. Attendees can sign up for a free smoking cessation class valued at $150. The TNSTRONG/Carter County Drug Prevention Youth Board will also be present with pumpkins for kids to paint and the opportunity to sign a petition to ban smoking in cars with kids.

Gift certificates are limited to one per person per tobacco item. For more information, go to www.facebook.com/GrowCarterCounty.
