2-day report: 2,125 new COVID-19 cases, 8 new deaths in Tennessee

Novel coronavirus in Tennessee by the numbers:

All numbers are two-day totals. Statistics were not available Sunday.

— 2,125 new cases and 8 new deaths reported Monday. 

— 42,297 total cases since tracking began in March. 41,949 confirmed. 348 probable.

— 592 total deaths. 568 confirmed. 24 probable.

 803 new recoveries for a total of 26,962.

— 35 new hospitalizations for a total of 2,599 over the course of the pandemic.

— 28,629 new tests for a total of 776,858.

Northeast Tennessee by the numbers:

— 26 new cases in the upper eight counties for a total of 488.

— 7 new cases each in Greene and Washington counties. 4 new cases each in Hawkins and Sullivan counties. 3 new cases in Carter County. 1 new case in Johnson County. 

— 7 total deaths in the upper eight counties. That number has remained constant for several weeks.

— 6 new recoveries for a total of 371.

— 110 active cases in NE Tennessee.

— 964 new negative test results for a total of 25,758.
