A new survey was unveiled to the Parks and Recreation Board during its meeting on Monday evening. For the next month, the department will collect and analyze the answers to the survey. The staff and the board hope to get a broad sampling of responders to the survey as it develops the annual recreational plan. “We need help from the public in order to help us form this plan,” the department announced on the front page of its website.
In addition to providing the needed input, the process also allows citizens to provide their email address to the department if they would like to be included in regular notifications and discussions.
The survey form allows respondents to rank the park facilities in order of importance to them, list recreational activities deemed most important, and the activities that are the most interesting.
There is also space to include a recommendation of programs and special events that people would like to see in the parks.
Citizens will have about a month to take and return the survey. Once completed, the surveys may either be hand delivered to the Parks and Recreation Department or turned in at City Hall and the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library. The survey may also be mailed or emailed to the Parks and Recreation Department.
