The MiniDome has a new field.

The East Tennessee State athletic department announced on Tuesday that it has finished the artificial turf installation inside the ETSU Athletics Center, giving the school’s football team one of the top indoor practice facilities in the country.

The project, completed through ETSU’s Embrace Excellence initiatives, was installed by AstroTurf. The surface measures 65,625 square feet, and was installed in rollable panels. The conversion time for the new turf will be eight hours to install and four hours to roll up.

“This turf is a first-class addition to ETSU, and the realization of a collaborative vision of athletic and academic programming in this multi-purpose facility,” ETSU Athletic Director Scott Carter said. “I could not be more excited about the numerous versatile possibilities now available to ETSU athletics, our university and this region. I particularly want to thank the generous donors who made this project a reality.”

ETSU donors have played an integral role in completing projects through the Embrace Excellence campaign.
