Life in the fast Lane: Longhorns' star tops list

With a championship at stake, Nathan Lane turned in yet another superb performance.

Johnson County’s 5-foot-10, 165-pound senior scored all of his team’s touchdowns in a 35-12 win over Unicoi County, giving the Longhorns the Region 1-3A football title.

For his efforts, Lane earned the top honor for the Johnson City Press/Times News players of the week.


Nathan Lane

Johnson County, DB

Lane scored on touchdown runs of 18, 38, 1 and 9 yards while gaining 182 yards on 20 carries. He also picked off a pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown.


Micah Robinson

David Crockett, WR

A key part of the area’s most prolific passing attack, the senior had his best game of the season with five catches for 202 yards and two scores in a 50-14 crushing of Morristown East.


Cade Larkins

David Crockett, QB

Continuing his weekly assault on opposing defenses, the Pioneers’ junior connected on 17 of 29 attempts for 373 yards and three touchdowns.


Julian Reed

Sullivan South, RB

Reed, a junior, had a nose for the end zone in a 36-0 win over county rival Sullivan North. He scored four times and totaled 137 yards on 11 carries.


Lane Potter

Hampton, RB

The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a 49-11 thumping of Cosby as Potter rushed for 155 yards. The senior also had a touchdown and an interception.
