We also need to be thankful of the volunteers who will be helping feed the less fortunate on this Thanksgiving Day.
In that regard, we also should be thankful that the Washington County United Way campaign is nearing the homestretch in reaching its $1.8 million fundraising goal this year. Contributions to the campaign help fund 17 local service agencies that lend a helping hand to the less fortunate in our community.
Earlier this month, United Way officials reported a $256,870 contribution from Citi of Gray has helped push the United Way fundraising campaign to just over 58 percent of its goal. While the finish line may be in sight, the work is far from over. United Way needs your help to wrap up its fundraising campaign in late December.
The theme of this year’s campaign is: “The time is now.” Indeed, now is the time to make your gift to United Way.
Make this Thanksgiving a time to share your bounty with others who are in need.
Contributions will go to help support agencies like Adult Day Care Services, American Red Cross, Girls Inc. and Coalition for Kids.
State and local funding cuts have taken their toll on area charities. And many of these agencies are bracing for more cuts in federal funding.
That’s why we are asking that you convince a family member, friend or co-worker to join you in sending a check to United Way of Washington County, P.O. Box 4039, Johnson City, TN 37602-4039.
