First Baptist of Piney Flats offers drive-through nativity

Nativity scenes have long been a popular tradition of churches in the area at Christmas. Scenes depicting the coming of Jesus into the world are a very frequent project for a church to celebrate Christmas with its neighborhood.

But Piney Flats First Baptist Church, 100 Cherry St., Piney Flats, still outdoes other churches in the area with “The Journey,” a broad display of Christ’s stories and prophecies of both the New and the Old Testaments.

These scenes can be viewed from the comfort of your car, as this is a drive-through production. Just as the scenes tell the story from the distant past of the Old Testament, they continue the story well past the birth of Christ in the New Testament, extending to the crucifixion of Christ and beyond.

There are over 60 members in the big presentation.

The drive-throughs will take place Friday and Saturday from 6:30-9 p.m. The production is free to the public.
