The giving season at Bristol Motor Speedway will get underway Sunday, Nov. 11, with the eighth annual running of the Speedway in Lights 5K.
Sponsored by Cigna and presented by Fleet Feet, the 5K’s participants and their guests will be the first to see this year’s edition of the annual holiday light show at the speedway as the runners make their way up and down the BMS dragway, though its colosseum, around its half-mile oval and across the finish line to a holiday party in the racetrack infield.
The races starts at 6 p.m. The entry fee for runners and the guest admission are both $30 or $15 for kids age 12 and under. Registration and guest admission are both available in advance online at http://bit.ly/SCCSIL5K.
A special media preview and an announcement of all the details of this year’s holiday light show will be held at the raceway Monday night, Nov. 12.
Speedway Children’s Charities Night of Smiles presentations of the proceeds of its past year of fundraising to dozens of child and youth service organizations across the region will be held Thursday night, Nov. 15.
And Speedway in Lights will officially open its 2018 season on Friday night, Nov. 16.
For those who enjoy their holiday lights with food and drink, Tastings, Bites and Twinkling Lights, a gourmet tasting session overlooking Speedway in Lights will be held Sunday night, Nov. 18, beginning at 5:30.
Held high above the racetrack in he colosseum skyboxes, Tasting Bites and Twinkling Lights guests will be treated to some of test best tastes area restaurants, wineries and breweries have to offer, including The Virginian, the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges, Johnson City Catering Group, Buttermilk Sky Pie, Southern Craft, Studio Brew, Yee-Haw Brewery and others.
