ELIZABETHTON — The annual benefit dinner and silent auction for East Tennessee Christian Home and Academy will feature music by Christian singer John Waller.

The “By Faith” benefit will take place at 6:30 p.m. on April 27 at Boones Creek Christian Church, 105 Christian Church Road (Exit 17 off I-26, nest to the Cracker Barrel restaurant

The dinner is an important annual benefit for the home, said Ron Marvel, the home’s director of development and classroom teacher.

The home was started in 1946 and is dedicated to “Growing Girls God’s Way.” It exists to provide a Christian ministry to help at-risk adolescent girls and their families.

Marvel said it provides a safe home for several girls and also provides a high school education for the residents and also other girls who attend the classes as day students. The home and the academy receive no state funding and depends on donations from Christian supporters in the region.

Waller is a talented Georgia native who first caught the attention of the Christian music community as the frontman for the band According to John. When the group disbanded, he and his wife Josee moved to Colorado, where they helped launch Southlink Church.

Some of Waller’s hits include “I’ll be Waiting,” “Orphan” and “As for me and my House”.

Marvel said the evening will include a silent auction from 6-8 p.m.

Those planning to attend the event should RSVP by April 24 by calling 423-542-4423 or 895-0122.
