ELIZABETHTON — Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will be the guest speaker for the Third Annual Steak ’N’ Burger fundraiser for the Elizabethton/Carter County Boys and Girls Club.

The Steak ‘N’ Burger will be held on the evening of June 14 at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology. More details will be released in the next few weeks.

“There is no one who would be more appropriate,” said Elizabeth Williams, resource development and marketing director for the club. “He is not only a star, he was a member of the club when he was a boy and he has been so generous to the club over the years.” As an example, his Score Foundation donated $25,000 to the club last year.

Another way Witten has given back to his community is with his annual free football camp for youngsters. The date of the next Steak ’N’ Burger was set to fit with the time that Witten will be in Elizabethton for next summer’s football camp.

Another change from the past two Steak ’N’ Burgers is the location for the dinner. Because of the expected demand, the dinner will be held at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology instead of the club this year.

Witten has played his entire professional career with the Dallas Cowboys, he was drafted after his junior season at the University of Tennessee in 2003.

Witten played high school football at Elizabethton High School. The Cyclones reached the state semifinals three times while Witten played at the school as a tight end and linebacker. He was named USA Today Player of the Year for Tennessee.
