Gas prices decline ahead of Christmas, AAA says

According to a recent report from AAA released Monday, gas prices in Tennessee have declined 21 consecutive days for a total discount of 5 cents. 

While the national average of gas prices currently stands at $2.48, Tennessee gas prices are now at an average price of $2.28. Nationally, gas prices are 3 cents less than last week, 4 cents lower than one month ago and 30 cents higher than one year ago.

Some of the most expensive gas in the state is in places like Jackson, with an average price of $2.38, and $2.31 in Memphis and Nashville. 

In much of East Tennessee, gas prices are around $2.20, with Chattanooga holding an average price of $2.18 as of Monday.
