Jared Adkins came through with 14 points for the Trailblazers, who won the rebounding battle 29-19 over the Falcons. Ayden Begley, a recent transfer from David Crockett, scored 11 points — including a trio of big 3-point shots.
Chance Johnson had a game-high 23 points to lead Volunteer. Hunter Skelton added 19 points to the total.
University High 65, Cloudland 63
Kaleb Meredith hit 11 of 17 shots from the field in a 27-point effort and Jake Hubbard drew a charge with 1.8 seconds left as the Bucs held on for a Watauga Valley Conference victory over the Highlanders.
Mason Broome and Marshall Fleenor each scored nine and Hubbard followed with eight for University High. Meredith also had a team-best seven rebounds.
Josh Blair had 16 points to lead Cloudland. Robert Leeper finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Hunter Shell contributed 10 points, while Conner Birchfield and Dillon Johnson each finished with nine.
Tennessee High 61, Dobyns-Bennett 60
BRISTOL — Cade Mitchell scored 21 points including a game-winning free throw with 18 seconds to go. McHale Bright tallied 16 points and Nolan Wishon added with a dozen as the Vikings handed the Indians their first Big Seven Conference loss.
Charlie Browder powered his way inside to 22 points for Dobyns-Bennett, which got 14 points from Marae Foreman and 10 points from Riamello Wadsworth. Foreman missed a contested shot at the buzzer.
Sullivan South 72, Happy Valley 39
KINGSPORT — The Rebels outscored the Warriors 41-16 over the second and third quarters for the blowout win.
Cole Layne led South with 24 points, while Gannon Chase ended with 13 and Chase Bowery scored 11.
Bryce Carter had 16 points to lead Happy Valley.
Johnson County 59, Sullivan East 55
KINGSPORT — Blake Atwood’s torrid pace continued with a 26-point performance to lift the Longhorns over the Patriots.
Lucas Phillips hit double digits with 13 points, while Michael Oxentine, Gavin Reece and Troy Arnold all scored six in Johnson County’s balanced attack.
Dustin Bartley and Dylan Bartley each scored 17 for East, which got eight points from Dayne Davis.
Hampton 50, North Greene 48
BAILEYTON — Down by a couple of scores with a minute to go, Jordan Bentley hit a 3-point shot and Rocky Croy scored on a putback to lift the Bulldogs over the Huskies.
Happy Valley 65, Unaka 54
ELIZABETHTON — Noah Stevens had another big night for the Warriors with 26 points in the road win over the Rangers.
Blake Young finished with 14 points and Bryce Carter scored nine.
Will Sexton paced Unaka with 17 points, followed by Isaac Hill with 15 points and John Ramsey with 11.
Daniel Boone 56, Volunteer 27
CHURCH HILL — Down by seven points at the end of the first quarter, the Lady ’Blazers outscored the Lady Falcons 49-13 the rest of the way.
Jaycie Jenkins led Boone’s efforts with 19 points, followed by Bayleigh Carmichel with 17 points and Olivia Miller with 11.
Bryna Minton was the leading scorer for Volunteer with 12 points.
Dobyns-Bennett 55, Tennessee High 14
BRISTOL — The Lady Indians steamrolled the Lady Vikings, pitching a 17-0 shutout in the first quarter and leading 28-4 at the half.
Courtney Whitson was the game's lone double-figure scorer, tossing in 18 points. Bethany Welty scored eight.
Happy Valley 50, Sullivan South 37
KINGSPORT — Shalyn Whitson had 18 points and Adrienne Henegar tallied 14 as the Lady Warriors pushed their winning streak to nine games. Tiana Long and Olivia Absher each contributed eight points.
Alex Harris led the Lady Rebels with 16 points and Mollie Leslie scored seven.
Sullivan East 55, Johnson County 48
BLUFF CITY — The Lady Patriots pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Lady Longhorns.
Riley Nelson led the way with 19 points, while Kayla Honaker scored 10 and Mattie Gouge netted nine.
Taylor Parsons had a team-best 15 for Johnson County with Taylor Cox finishing with 11 points and Emmy Miller with 10.
Cloudland 52, University High 30
Mandy Benfield and Trinity Vines each tallied 13 points to lead the Lady ’Landers over the Lady Bucs. Gracie Freeman added 11 points, nine of them coming from 3-point range.
Amari Johnson had 11 points and Gracie Crabtree finished with nine to lead University High.
North Greene 39, Hampton 36
BAILEYTON — The Lady Huskies held off the Lady Bulldogs in the hotly contested Watauga Valley Conference game.
Charlotte Roschkowski was North Greene’s leader with 11 points, followed by Haliegh Bernard with 10.
Leeanne Guinn had 12 points and Stephanie Campbell came through with 10 for Hampton.
Happy Valley 44, Unaka 41
ELIZABETHTON — Adrienne Henegar scored 14 points as the Lady Warriors pulled out the hard-fought win over the Lady Rangers.
Bailey Ball had 12 and Shalyn Whitson had 10 for Happy Valley.
Myah Parlier had 14 to lead Unaka, while Savannah Tipton and Macy Ensor each netted eight.
