Rodriguez had 19 points and 11 rebounds, his team-leading eighth double-double, in ETSU’s 79-56 win over Furman on Saturday at Freedom Hall. He was 8-of-10 from the field, including 5-for-5 in the second half as the Bucs kept their home record perfect at 7-0.
Rodriguez, who had one block, was part of a defensive effort which held the Paladins to a season-low in points and 25 points below their season average.
His eight double-doubles rank fifth nationally, while he leads all players in total rebounds (175) and ranks fourth with 11.7 rebounds per game. He is one of only 10 NCAA Division I players to be averaging double-digit points (11.7), rebounds and over two assists (2.3) per game this season.
He received a first player of the week award following a 21-point, 12-rebound performance in the Bucs’ 80-62 win over UT-Martin on Dec. 8. Rodriguez is the first Buc to win a pair of Southern Conference player of the week honors in the same season since T.J. Cromer accomplished the feat during the 2016-17 season.
Next up for Rodriguez and the Bucs is a home game against Samford on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
