Lady Warriors capture crown in Carolina Invite

CHARLESTON, S.C.—For Happy Valley’s Lady Warriors, playing in the Carolina Invitational this year was time well spent.

In fact, the Warriors won their division championship Saturday with a 45-35 conquest of Greer, S.C.

Adrienne Henegar served as the chief catalyst for Happy Valley, sinking a half-dozen 3-pointers before finishing with 21 points. Shalyn Whitson also reached double figures in scoring with 11.

Henegar was voted most valuable player while Whitson joined her on the all-tournament team.

Happy Valley was at its best in the opening quarter, outscoring Greer 15-4.

CHARLESTON, S.C.—In David Crockett’s division of the Carolina Invite, the Lady Pioneers captured the third-place game behind a standout performance by Matty McKee.

Dominating the paint, McKee hit 8 of her 11 shots from the field, finished with 17 points and played shutdown defense against Stratford’s top offensive player.

Emma Gouge pitched in 11 points, Hallie Scott added eight and Mackenzie Baldwin made the all-tournament team for Crockett.

KNOXVILLE—Isaac Hill poured in 16 points, John “Boy” Ramsey accounted for 14 and the Rangers wrapped up a 3-0 weekend in the Berean Christian Classic.

Will Sexton, Ryan Johnson and Dylan Whitehead had eight points apiece for Unaka, which prevailed in a back-and-forth contest.
